16x20", oil on linen panel, 2019. Sold
Painted during the Olmsted Plein Air Invitational, 2019. I had the great honor of meeting with and painting Reverend Dr Albert Paul Brinson in front of Ebenezer Baptist Church where he served as assistant minister with Drs. Martin Luther King, Sr, and Jr.
Dr. Brinson spent much of his boyhood in the home of Martin Luther King Jr and still meets with his sister Christine for Sunday dinner. While I painted him, he related story after story of his youth, mentorship by "ML" and involvement with the civil rights movement.
This painting was generously purchase by a donor and given to Dr. Brinson and his family.
The Dr. Martin Luther King History Center is one of the few National Parks where history still walks among us. Dr. Binson is part of that "Living History."
